C’an Picafort was originally a small fishing village and has gone from having under 200 residents in the 1960’s to a holiday destination in the mid 1970’s offering over 8000 hotels besds. Although small there is still a working harbour in C’an Picafort but little is left of the fishing village. The harbour also now runs tourist trips from its banks. C’an Picafort is most popular with the German tourist, and has two great beaches for everyone to enjoy. There are bars, restaurants and two nightclubs, but nightlife is pretty low key, so if you want evening entertainment as part of your holiday then make sure your hotel provides plenty.
Camp de Mar is a resort that has managed to keep its identity over the years and has been kept hidden from development. This exclusive beach resort is small with little more than 6 hotels in total, all of the hotels boast a 4 or 5 star rating and are visited throughout the season by both German and English tourists who are wanting a peaceful and relaxing beach holiday. If on the other hand you were wanting to play golf then Camp de Mar is home to 6 golf courses all championship standard. Entertainment in the evening is usually hotel based and the amenities such as restaurants and bars are limited, and tourists tend to stick to the comfort of their hotel, as there is little in the ways of entertainment in the resort.
