Online journal to help patient through face lifting procedure

Any cosmetic procedure can be a traumatic experience.  The hospital try to guide people through what will happen before, during and after a patients procedure in hospital.  The usual protocol for anyone wanting breast enlargement (Brustvergrößerung) or facelifting is;  that the patient makes contact with the hospital or clinic, in order to make an appointment for an initial consultation with a consultant plastic surgeon.  At this consultation the patient will be asked a series of questions, and an examination will take place.  A surgery date will then be given to the patient.  Before surgery takes place, the patient will be asked back for a pre-assessment, which will involve bloods being taken, urine checked, blood pressure etc.  Sometimes a chest x-ray is required (but not in all cases).

Once the pre-assessment has been done, and the patient is deemed fit for the operation to take place, then the clinical notes and x-rays (if necessary), will be sent down to the admissions department prior to surgery date.   The patient will be sent away with clear instructions about preparation for the operation (this can include starving for so many hours previous).

On the date of surgery, the patient is admitted to the bedroom and the operation will take place.

After surgery a team of nurses will be on hand to ensure the best care possible it taken of the patient.  They will administer pain relief and check the dressings throughout the first night to ensure all is well.  Before discharge the consultant surgeon will call in on the patient to ensure all is ok.  Once this has happened the discharge papers will be signed and the necessary medication will be sent home with the patient.

A good way of finding out about plastic surgery procedures from a patients point of view is to access the internet, where there are many online journals and blogs about surgery, and most important what they experienced.
